2010 World Car of the Year Nominees

The nominees for the 2010 World Car of the Year have been announced. The award will be presented at the New York International Auto Show in March. Lastyear's winner was the Volkswagen Golf, and runners up included the Ford Fiesta and Toyota iQ. The winners of the 3 categories-- Car of the Year, Performance Car of the Year and Green Car of the Year-- are voted on by 59 automotive writers from 23 countries. Nominees must be either brand new to the market or substantially revised for the 2010 model year.

Here are the nominees:

Check Out This Super Car: The "Mustanghini"

Ok, so this guy likes Lamborghinis, but also likes Fords. So, what does he do? He gets the best of both worlds by taking a 2007 Mustang and shoving a massive V-10 and transaxle into its middle. He calls it the Tractorri. Pretty impressive, eh?

Using one Mustang shell, one Lamborghini Gallardo parts car and one Mustang parts car, not to mention thousands of hours of labor, this guy combined the best parts of each ride. He calims that everything from the transmission to the all-wheel-drive system work.

Top 10 Most Stolen Vehicles in the U.S.

Do you drive one of the most sought after cars in America? If so, good for you. However, if it's one of the most sought after cars by thieves, that spells trouble. With today's technology, there are plenty of ways to prevent thieves from breaking in and/or stealing your car, such as alarm systems, lo-jack and On-Star. But, those can all get pricey. Have you ever considered simply covering your car with a locking car cover? Not only does a car cover keep your vehicle (and your valuables inside) out of the line of sight of conniving thieves, but it also keeps your paintjob protected from harmful outdoor elements.

I found this list of the Top 10 Most Stolen Cars in the U.S. If your car is listed on here, or even if it’s not, consider the most cost-effective way to keep your car protected from thieves, sun damage and bird droppings. A new car cover is easy to use, and costs much less than installing an ineffective alarm system.

10. 2002 Ford Explorer; 11,783 stolen last year

9. 1999 Ford Taurus; 11,958 stolen last year

8. 1994 Acura Integra; 12,024 stolen last year
