Lately, it seems as if everybody is trying to reduce the size of their carbon footprint--including the auto industry! Cars are getting greener, and hybrid and electric cars are more popular than ever. But, what about the people who don't want to compromise when it comes to performance and style? Isn't there a way to have it all? I'm talking about a sexy, high-horsepowered, fast, fuel-effiencient sports car. Is that too much to ask?? Apparently, it's not, because the auto industry is really starting to come up with some good-looking, fast, and efficient concept cars. And, some of them have actually made it to production. Now, if only they all could follow suit...

Ecotricity's Electric Lotus Exige

This car is able to go from 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds. Ecotricity wants this car to be as fast at the V12 Exotic sports car, but with the ability to get 150 miles on a single 'electric tank.'

Audi R Zero

This beauty features 4 electic in wheel motors that total an enormous 1091 hp. And, it goes from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds!!

Venturi Fresh

While this is a more exotic-looking electric car, it's also a bit slower. It's top speed is about 100 MPH. It gets from 0 to 60 in just under 5 seconds, making it still a rather quick car. And, it can go about 150 miles between chargings.

Citreon C-Metisse Concept

This concept mixes performance and technology. It has a 2.7L 208 hp diesel engine coupled with a 20hp electric engine. And, interestingly, it can run independently on either engine, or in mixed mode. Going from 0 to 60 take more than 6 secs for this little guy, but it gets 36 MPG.

Saab Aero-X

This gorgeous ride features a 2.8L Twin Turbo V6 engine that produces 400 hp and goes from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. And, it doesn't even have doors!

Toyota FT-HS

The FT-HS powertain is set up to produce more than 400 hp and hit 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. It combines a 3.5L V6 motor with an electric motor to reach ridiculous speeds.

Tesla Roadster

Already being produced, the Tesla Roadster is one good-looking green car. It goes from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and is capable of 244 miles on a single charge. And, it's currently one of the most efficient sports cars available.
