500-hp Plug-In Porsche Makes Me Drool

Now, I know it wasn't too long ago that I posted a blog about my not liking most hybrid and electric cars. That being said- I think it's important to note that I am not a hyprocrite. While I'm not about to run out and purchase a Toyota Prius (for more reasons than just the abundance of recalls), nor am I ever going to purchase a Think City, I can't help myself but to swoon over the ever-so-sexy, plug-in hybrid supercar -- the 918 Spyder.

Porsche is making some big claims about the 918 Spyder saying it will have 500 hp, a mid-engine V-8 and two electric motors. Not to mention that it's claimed to get a whopping 78.4 mpg. In addition, they say it will be able to go from zero to 62 in 3.2 seconds and have a top speed of 198 mph.

This is one electric car I wouldn't turn my back against. Although, I'm sure I'd have to win a few times on the nickel machines before I could afford this bad boy.

And, so help me if a Think City makes it to the U.S. But, even if you're holding out like myself, there are still some ways to save at the pump. Check out these gas-saving products. From air filters to tonneau covers, there are plenty of ways to save money at the pump without giving in to a eco-friendly ride. 1000 Tesla Roadsters Have Been Built

Apparently after reading my post last week about the Tesla Roadster, a bunch of you went out and bought one. This week, I came across an article on autobloggreen saying that 1,000 Tesla Roadsters have been built. Last year it was only 150. I may not be the sole cause of 850 more being sold, but I'm going to take credit for some of them.

In that same article, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that they have negotiated a lease for the Model S plant, although he wouldn’t say where it was. Production of the Model S is still at least 2 years out. Musk also said the 1000th roadster will be auctioned off for charity.
