1000 Tesla Roadsters Have Been Built

Apparently after reading my post last week about the Tesla Roadster, a bunch of you went out and bought one. This week, I came across an article on autobloggreen saying that 1,000 Tesla Roadsters have been built. Last year it was only 150. I may not be the sole cause of 850 more being sold, but I'm going to take credit for some of them.

In that same article, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that they have negotiated a lease for the Model S plant, although he wouldn’t say where it was. Production of the Model S is still at least 2 years out. Musk also said the 1000th roadster will be auctioned off for charity.

High-Performance Electric Vehicles

Want to help the environment, but don't want to drive a lame electric car that doesn't go faster than 55 mph? Or, are you just worried that your neighbor will see your go-green car and start calling you a tree hugger? Get the looks of a hot sports car, and save the environment at the same time with a Tesla Roadster. Its 2x more efficient than a Prius, and 100x better looking! Your Roadster can take you from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds. It's 100% electric, and has 288 hp. BUT (and notice that's a big but), a Tesla Roadster starts at $108,000. So, while you may be looking good and saving trees, you definitely won't be saving pennies. For less expenisive (but still hot) options, check out the Tesla Model S, starting at $49,900.

Mother Natures Makes Cars a Bit More Aerodynamic

A foot of snow plus high winds in Brooklyn helped make these cars a bit more aerodynamic. To see more pictures, check out the full story on Jalopnik.com.

P.S., if you're like us, and the sight of snow ruining your paintjob makes you cringe, check out some car covers to keep this from happening to you.

A Whole New Level of Going Green

The founder of hypermiling site Ecomodder, Darin Cosgrove, added a boattail to his Pontiac Firefly (aka Geo Metro). In return, he gets 64 mpg, and probably a whole lot of stares.
