Apparently after reading my post last week about the Tesla Roadster, a bunch of you went out and bought one. This week, I came across an article on autobloggreen saying that 1,000 Tesla Roadsters have been built. Last year it was only 150. I may not be the sole cause of 850 more being sold, but I'm going to take credit for some of them.

In that same article, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that they have negotiated a lease for the Model S plant, although he wouldn’t say where it was. Production of the Model S is still at least 2 years out. Musk also said the 1000^th roadster will be auctioned off for charity.   

Want to help the environment, but don't want to drive a lame electric car that doesn't go faster than 55 mph? Or, are you just worried that your neighbor will see your go-green car and start calling you a tree hugger?
